“That doesn’t make it any less wrong.” Elizabeth shook her head and brushed a lock of hair from her face. “Lady Katherine was hardly older than myself… She was sweet. Foolish, but sweet. She never spoke an ill word towards me or on the subject of myself as far as I know.” Her eyes fluttered closed for a moment before she stood, striding across the room and standing in the doorway. “…I believe we will be dining soon. You will be joining us sir, yes?”
“Ah,” the Doctor scrambled up to his feet and nodded, giving a quick bow. “Yes, of course, I will be joining you for dinner. May take a bit of a venture back out into the garden— I may have left some of my belongings out there, and I should probably go collect them before somebody else does. But,” he smiled at her, “I will most certainly be joining you for dinner, Lady Elizabeth.”
Elizabeth smiled, bowing in return and extending her hand towards him. “I shall hold you to that, sir,” she told him sternly, before a bright smile overtook her features. “Thank you… And I shall see you at dinner. Let us hope the Lady Mary is in a good mood, hm?” She slipped from the schoolroom and to her chambers, her ladies in waiting helping her to put on a nicer dress for dinner, one made from plain, pale blue silk that was trimmed with pearls. She wore a simple tiara and her mother’s pearl necklace, with a golden B being the pain focus of the piece of jewelry. She crept down to the dining room, taking her seat next to Prince Edward and waiting for her new tutor quietly.
Elizabeth looked back at the Doctor when he said that, expression unreadable. Queen? It wasn’t likely. Should Edward die childless Mary would most likely be next in line, and knowing Mary she’d do anything she could to keep Elizabeth from succeeding the throne after her should there be no heir. But there were so many variables, so many things that could happen… “I thank you for that,” she said softly, finally turning away from the window and standing with her head held high, all of her dignity regained. “And… Though it is hardly likely that I shall become queen, if it is God’s Will, perhaps it will happen.” She smiled faintly, seating herself at the windowsill once again. “I fear for whoever he takes as a wife next. Not so long ago I was forced to attend the execution of Lady Katherine Howard. It plagues me with nightmares, sir…” She shook her head and closed her eyes. “I do not understand why death had to be the answer.”
The Doctor smiles faintly over at her before he said idly, “You never know, Elizabeth… perhaps God is playing his hand of cards for you more than you realise.” The Doctor was quick to change the subject, though— the conversation was getting a little too close to spoilers for his liking, so he followed her refocus back to her father. “Death is almost never the right answer, but sometimes it’s the easiest one, or the quickest one. Your father likes simple solutions and for things to go his way. It’s unsurprising that he’d deal with it like that when you consider that aspect of his ruling.”
Good afternoon, sir. Might I ask what brings you to Hatfield Palace?
H-Hatfield Palace? I… Don’t actually know.

Yes, Hatfield Palace, sir. In England? …Oh, where are my manners, I do apologize. I’m the Lady Elizabeth. [She bows politely and extends her hand towards him]
Good afternoon, sir. Might I ask what brings you to Hatfield Palace?

I will forever be convinced that bow-tied is the Doctor with a tumblr. On top of this, the ‘person’(Doctor I know it’s you) behind the Doctor is just so genuinely welcoming and nice. Willing to RP with anyone. She also gives the best advice and is so level headed. I love you Carrie! <3

There’s a moment of silence from the red-headed princess, trying to figure out how best to word her thoughts that were far from orderly. She’d never said them aloud, only written them in a secret diary that she hid from everyone. “I… if I may say so sir, I must confide in you that… I do not agree with the way that His Majesty goes about instilling his… reforms. Neither do I agree that the Catholic doctrine should have been completely destroyed in order for him to divorce the Lady Catherine. Though… One might think I would favor his changes, as without them I might never have existed but… I tolerate them. In fact, though I do have faith in God and it leans towards the Protestant doctrine… Should the Catholic faith be prohibited in the courts just because of my father’s rash judgments? You know him, as well as I do I’m sure and you know he has a temper, and hardly thinks things through sometimes. I myself am exiled from the courts at London depending on his petty favor! He has my sister on a string, lifting her up by his affections or lowering her lower than before by his ill will towards her. She was forced to renounce her faith, merely because he has to rule everything in his kingdom, including the religion… Should there not be some freedom?” Her cheeks were red and the temper she inherited from her father was showing through; She had stood up and started pacing around the room. “Perhaps he knows better than I, after all… I am a mere girl of thirteen.” Elizabeth paused at the window, pressing her forehead against the cool glass. “If I were Queen, I would change so much… But we all know Edward shall be king. I only hope he is a just King, and not one of folly.” She glanced back and the Doctor, heaving a sigh and shaking her head. “…I apologize, sir, I did not mean to prattle so.”
The Doctor sat there, listening to Elizabeth patiently as she spoke of the faults she found with her father’s ruling, and he tried to keep the smile off of his face, he really did, but he just found it spreading over his face as he waited for her to finish. “As long as we’re speaking plainly,” he said once she needlessly apologised, “let me just say this: your father is a great man. But being a great man does not equally make you a good man. He is great in stature because that is how he was raised to be, but in means and in heart he is mediocre at best. Too selfish, and nowhere near as selfless as he needs to be to be a good king.” He tugged at his bow tie, nodding his head a little, “For what it’s worth, Lady Elizabeth, regardless of whatever may happen to your father or your brother in terms of succession, I think you would make an extraordinary queen and an even better ruler.”
You are quite the flatterer, are you not, sir? [Elizabeth quirks an eyebrow at him, dark eyes watching his every move.] If you see this as such an honor you must be easily impressed, if I may be so bold as to say so. Or has Robbie sent you as some sort of flattering jest?
[The Doctor meets her curious eyes, still smiling.] No, my Lady, no Robbie nor anyone else sent me here, I came by my free will. I’m just a traveller. A traveller whose path crossed yours, it would seem so.
[Elizabeth finally smiles, a soft smile that you might miss if you blinked.] Well… I suppose I should be welcoming you to Hatfield? Though we were not expecting guests, sir. And you’ve missed supper, I’m afraid.

That’s all the truth I know
Just thought you all should know my bed is under the stairs.
Yes.
That is all.
Oh. He—Hello, ah, m’lady. I’m … Amy. Pond. The pleasure’s all mine. No, really.
Correct me if I am wrong, lady Pond but… Are you from Scotland, by any chance? You sound as though you are. There aren’t many Scottish men and women at court though, but the accent is quite distinct.
Ah — yes. Yeah, I am. You don’t — the English around here haven’t got a problem with the Scots, do they?

Several years ago, before I was born mind you, there was… An invasion. But that conflict has since been resolved, though His Majesty may still have ill will towards the country. It’s hard to say, really… His favors change as quickly as the tides, I’m afraid.
